Noble Wimberly Jones was the son of Noble Jones of Savannah who played a prominent part in the building of the city. Noble W. was born in England during the 1720s and came to Savannah with Oglethorpe in the company of his parents, Noble Jones and wife Sarah (Hack) Jones. He owned the famous Wormsloe which consisted of thousands of acres of land.
